FAQ
Is the Telegram Monitoring free of charge?+
Yes! Telegram Monitoring is free to use, as long as you stick to our terms of use.
What's the added value? And what can I use the tool for?+
This tool is especially useful for students, researchers, and journalists who want to explore and analyze Telegram data quickly, conveniently and without setting up their own crawling stack.
Typical use cases include:
- students working on Bachelor's or Master's theses,
- seminars or workshops dealing with real-world datasets,
- researchers running quick exploratory analyses,
- journalists who need fast insights.
Telegram Monitoring provides a fast and user-friendly way to gain an initial overview of Telegram channels and topics.
Are there any limitations for certain use cases?+
To keep the service free of charge, the tool is highly standardized and may not be suitable for larger research projects that require significant customization.
We're designing a concept called Create-your-own-Dataset, which will let you define your own crawl parameters and build customized datasets. It's not live yet, and it probably won't be part of the free tier, but stay tuned.
How many messages can I export as a CSV file?+
You can export up to 10,000 messages per dataset.
We set this limit to prevent full-scale data extraction with just one click. Maybe we'll offer more in the future, but likely not in the free version.
How does the crawling work?+
Our crawling logic is documented here on our Methodology page.
